Captain Cody Maddox's Fishing Reports

12/19/07 Fishing Report

I am looking forward to the coming weeks in both Galveston and Matagorda Bay complexes. We have been catching good numbers of trout up to 22" on Corky's and dark colored worms wading or drifting over mud and shell, but recent trips I have been searching for big trout. These fish are steadily moving in to traditional big trout hot spots of mine. Matagorda and Galveston are showing some quality fish on top waters, day-glo and pearl Corky's. We are also catching good numbers of trout and reds drifting mid-bay shell in 3 to 5 feet of water when clients want to stay in the boat. We have had some real bruisers in the past couple of months and it is showing signs of getting better with every cold front that approaches the Texas coast. The fish are FAT right now, trout that are 23 inches and weigh in at 5.5 lbs. We have had alot of trout  in the 5 to 8 lbs range on Corky's and top waters .

I am excited about what the future holds, its only going to get better from here. I also have some cast and blast still available for you duck hunters. We have had some exceptional days on redheads and pintail.
