Despite the 20 to 30 mph
winds we are having we are
still managing to catch some
solid fish wading protected
shorelines with topwaters in
the early morning and
Corky's and Corky
devil's later in the day. I
have had some solid trout in
the past few weeks fishing
topwaters next to deep water
where you have a strong
current near by. Lower West
Bay has been off and on and
the fish are scattered. On
most trips we are catching
good trout just not in
numbers, the fish are there
just hard to zero in on. The
redfish bite has been
awesome in less than shin
deep water, aggressive and
blowing bait out of the
water 10 feet from you and
blow up on your topwater 3
or 4 times before eating
it, it'll get you heart
going... Deeper shell and
structure in the middle of
the bay has been producing
good numbers of solid trout
to 6 lbs most around 2 or 3
pounds throwing 1/4 oz Bass
Assassins.
Wading at night has been
good to great on trout and
big redfish when the wind
allows. Topwaters and Bass
Assassins have worked really
well. The back lakes are
also holding huge redfish
around shell pads. Topwaters
and braided line have been
the ticket in catching these
fish when the jig wont get
through the toeheads.
