Captain Greg Francis' Fishing Reports

7/4/09 Fishing Report

What a busy busy month! The wind finally calm down and the fishing exploded!  We have had some great Trout action the past few weeks out on the water.  It hasn't mattered at all what kind of fishing we are doing we are flat out catching some great numbers of Trout. Free linning shrimp at the jetties have produced solid nimbers of Trout up to 24" and wading with arties has produced solid Trout aswell. On average we have been catching between 40 to 50 Trout at the jetties by noon free linning shrimp up next to the rocks along the north jetty. This action will continue to be great
through the month of September. Book you jetty trip now, they are filling up fast.

Wade fishing continues to produce solid fish. We are not seeing 40 to 50 Trout per trip like the jetties, were are having to work a little harder for these fish. Early morning the topwater baits have produced, baits like the Jimmy Houston Super Spook jr. and the chrome blue back She Dog have been the go to baits. My go to plum Saltwater Assassin and Firetiger Assasins have been working extemely well too. The San Luis Pass and lower West Bay shell pads continue to produce some solid Trout in lower West Bay. I would say we are averaging about 20 fish right now on our wading trips.

If you are wanting to get the kids out on a fishing trip before school starts the time to book is now! The remaining days left are going fast.
