Captain Greg Francis' Fishing Reports

5/16/09 Fishing Report

Fishing remains good in West Galveston Bay. The San Luis Pass has been coughing up steady Trout to 25" on topwater surface plugs and soft plastic Bass Assassins. The water has been a little off-colored this week due to high south winds but the fish are still there and are very hungry.  Yesterday the winds finally backed off and we were able to get out on some of the mid bay reefs. Keying in on slicks over shell pads yesterday in 3 to 4' of water produced some nice Trout to 23". Plum Bass Assassins and bone She Dogs paid off well here.  The fishing will remain strong over the next month at the pass and the topwater bite will remain outstanding.

5/6/09 Fishing Report

Fishing remains strong at the pass! yesterdays group boxed a few nice
Trout to 24" on a mix of topwaters and soft plastics rigged on 1/8 ounce
Assassins in a mix of colors. Water was in great shape all around the pass
yesterday (almost to clear in my opinion). Keying in on slicks and rafting
Mullet near guts along Bird Island was the ticket for us yesterday. Off
the water at 11am.

To get you trip booked now for this great topwater action you can reach me

5/3/09 Fishing Report

This past week we finally started to get favorable southerly winds down on the lower end of West Bay. The winds are still a little on the high side but we have found protection up against the south shoreline or Bird Island. Keying in on surface bait and Trout slicks forming up tight to the shore line has been producing steady Trout in the 20 to 26" range and
plenty of Redfish in the lower to mid slot range. Topwaters baits in bone Super Spook jrs, black She Dogs, and chrome/blue back She Dogs were my best producers last week. Plum Assassins, Firetiger Assassins, and the bone diamond Assassin were steady producers on soft plastic side. For anyone wanting to get in on the this great topwater action, NOW IS THE TIME!  This next month will offer steady action on surface baits. Come see some
of the finest topwater action available the Gulf Coast has to offer. Its on down here!!!!!!
