Galveston Bay Fishing Report |
|
|
|
|
| |
The overall fishing in
West Galveston Bay has
been very solid for the
past
few weeks. The much
anticipated fall pattern
is in full swing and
should
continue on through
December.
The fall season brings
many many options is
sometimes hard to figure
out
what to do. Wading for
Trout is always at the
top of my list and this
has
been outstanding the
past few weeks. We have
had solid limits of
Trout to
23" lately with a few
Trout pushing the 25 to
26" range. The topwater
bite
for Trout has been
explosive. If you are
looking for some
topwater action
now is the time to be
out there chunking some
surface baits. She Dogs,
Super Spooks, and Super
Spook jrs in assorted
colors have been really
effective lately. Bass
Assassins in plum/char,
red shad, and
pumpkinseed
have been the go to
colors lately for some
steady Trout on soft
plastic
baits.
If wading isn't your
thing drift fishing from
the boat has been really
good too. Drifting over
shell pads in 2 to 5' of
water throwing live
shrimp, plastics, or
topwaters have been
putting a lot of fish in
the boat
as well. Also, the fall
season brings a lot of
bird action with it.
Working
birds that are feeding
over schools of Trout
can offer some fast and
furious action. We are
starting to see a lot of
bird action in the
middle
and lower end of West
Bay and even up in
Chocolate Bay.
If Trout aren't your
thing, the Redfish and
Flounder bite has been
very
good. The fall Flounder
run is now underway and
we are seeing and
catching
Flounder around bayou
drains and grassy
shorelines. In the same
areas we
are finding and sight
casting to some pretty
hefty Redfish.
The fishing is really
great right now and will
continue to see some
really
great catches up through
mid December.
To get in on some of
this great fall action
you better book fast, as
this
is a busy time of year.
