The weed lines were everywhere
and the Mahi Mahi seemed to be
under everyone we stopped at.
The only challenge we had was
finding the big fish schools and
staying away from the one
pounders. On the third weed
line we hit, we struck gold with
solid 5 to 9 pound fish and the
occasional 15 pounder. We also
had a 25 pound ling on the same
weed line. After that we went
to my Wahoo spot, but no one was
home. We headed back toward
home around 1:30 and stop at one
more weed line where my party,
(Jack Ewing and friends)
proceeded to wear the 2 to 3
pound Mahi out. We left them
biting and headed home. Still
nothing under the shrimp boats. |

Today was a
night and day difference from
yesterday. We hit a few weed
lines, with 2 pound Mahi
everywhere. Fred and the guys
loaded up enough for several
meals. We moved on to find some
Wahoo. We went 1 for 2 with
Fred catching his first Wahoo.
Ended up with 50 mahi and one
wahoo. |

The Wahoo bite has been in full
swing for about a week or so.
They haven’t been huge, but they
have been fairly consistent out
around sixty miles or so. Today
was no different. I had Greg
Bolt, (who fishes with me
regularly) and two of his
friends. We didn’t end up with
the numbers we’ve been having,
but it was still a respectable
day with two Wahoo hook ups,
four Black Fin Tuna. No Mahi
Mahi as we couldn’t find the
weed. |

Big Mahi!!
We were on some good size fish.
Unfortunately, going 1 for 3 on
some 25-30lb. mahi and 0 for 1
on an estimated 65-70 pounder
made it a little frustrating.
We still had a great trip with
Ken and Starla boating some
where around 35 mahi. |

Tough day.
Tom Herbert and party came out
to fish to nice conditions, but
few fish. We trolled some deep
water weed lines around Tequila
rig for several hours with no
payout. We then ran west toward
the weather buoy, searching for
signs of life, when we ran up on
some surface activity. Black
fin tuna were everywhere. We
immediately had a quadruple hook
up, landing all four fish, with
one about 15 lbs. (Sonja’s
fish). Trolling re-commenced
with no other action, the fish
went deep I guess. |
