Weather man got it wrong. Took
Austin Smitley out for his first
offshore trip with high
expectations. Weather did not
permit us to get out past 30
miles. Still managed to get a
few dolphin. We’ll get some
bigger ones next time Austin. |

Headed out in fairly rough
conditions. Went straight to 60
mile area, had several blowups
landing four tuna. It’s always
a good time watching guys who
haven’t hooked up with tuna
before. We trolled this area
for several areas and working
weedlines on the way back. The
numbers weren’t what we’ve been
catching, but the size made up
for it. We ended up with a
dolphin just short of 5 ft. long
– Rob’s first! |

Tough day on the water. GPS
antenna went out about 20 miles
offshore. Decided to continue
out in search of mahi – no
cooperation. Today we saw large
numbers of ling and were able to
land two in addition to some
tuna. Pink is still HOT! |

Pasadena’s finest. I had the
pleasure of taking out five
Pasadena motorcycle policemen.
After a late start, due to
battery trouble, we went
straight to tuna spot and
fortunately they were there. We
caught several good blackfin.
Also caught a ling and a few
dolphin. Solid day, but not
huge numbers. Had a great time. |

Had Laguna boys, Cabo Joe, and
Pepe with me today. Went out
marlin fishing, no cooperation.
However, we did get into some
yellowfin, but lost half of the
fish to sharks. Still made for
good sushi. Really didn’t find
good numbers of fish until after
noon, but when we did we
capitalized. We ended up with
44 dolphin, 1 ½ tuna, and a
rainbow runner. |

We have been catching some solid
blackfin tuna in a area 60 miles
out – today couldn’t find any.
We back tracked and started
working weedlines and debris –
picking up several nice dolphin
and three wahoo with one being
just under 5 ft. long. Pink
remains to be the hot color.
Almost every fish came from the
same lure. |
