All day
grind:
Best producing stringer of the
year! 8-10 flounder and close to
limits of redfish. Concentrating
in and around drains.
Picture perfect day:
Approached the fishing grounds
as trout crashed bait. Had a
limit in 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, no one else was
there to share in the
experience. Still catching a
good number of flounder too.
First-timers:
Took out a family from Utah. It
was their first time fishing
artificials for trout. We fished
under the birds with Berkley
Gulps and topwaters.
Two-a-days:
Keith and his buddies wade
fished the back drains, Cains
Cover and Oyster Farm. Main
focus was on redfish - ended up
catching trout as well.
Same evening took a quick trip
out with Ken Shupak - solid
numbers, but no big trout.
Two Joes, Three Days:
Joe and Joe Calla fished with me
for three days.
First day: Lake Austin - huge
schools of trout under birds,
50-60 trout with a handful of
reds. Good fish fry that night!
Second day: 25-30 mph north
winds - went out anyway to fish
the back tributaries in Lake
Austin - tough fishing (two reds
and one flounder).
Third day: it was the day after
the front - poled through the
flats looking for shallow water
reds, they still had lock jaw,
but we managed a handful of
24-26 inch reds. |
