03/12/09 Port Mansfield
I have been running more
trips in mansfield since
my wife and I bought a
house down there.
The redfish on this trip
were the best I've ever
seen. There were
three guides, (jeff and
Danny Neu and myself)
and customers.
Relying on Jeff and
Danny's knowledge, we
went into a cove and had
full limits of reds in
less than an hour and a
half (33 reds to 28
inches)

We've had some tough
conditions in east
matagorda these last
couple of weeks.
Today started out to
be no different, by noon
we had one keeper trout.
But that afternoon, we
finaly found some good
fish. We drifted
that same drop off for
two hours. Jon and
his party from bryan/college
station were a blast,
(and patient). Jon had
the best of it with a 24
inch trout)

The truckers were down
in Sargent toaday for
the second anual
Freightliner tourney.
We had a far day with a
few trout comming early
while drifting the south
west end of east
matagorda. We then
moved to the back lakes
for some red and
flounder action.

The Matagorda oilman's
tourney was this
weekend. We
finally got to go
offshore. Reggie, Cole
and myself headed out
yesterday for some
scouting. We
trolled and moved around
all day and ended up
with a big zero.
Expectations were
running low for Friday,
but we headed out early
toward Salvador Ridge.
We were greeted by a
huge weed line, filled
with flying fish.
We had a 15lb. Black Fin
Tuna(the tourney
winner) on the first
pass, another(second
place) on the second and
then a big wahoo(the
tourney winner) after
that, we caught several
small dolphin, with one
being around 14lbs. Good
day. Congrats on winning
Reggie and Cole, had a
great time.
